Keto…I have been on Keto for a few days and my body is rebelling…
I am sooo weak! I can hardly drag myself around. Thank goodness I don’t have to go to a job or they would find me just laying my head on the desk and stupefied.
Think maybe I will just try and ease into this Keto thing slowly, since I went into Keto whole hog. Eliminated all sugar, added lots of fat, had some protein and got rid of practically all carbs and potatoes. I guess it was too much for my body.
Loved lots of sugar in my iced tea and I had stopped putting it in my tea. So as part of cutting back on keto I added just a little bit of sugar back in. Then I had some left over whole wheat bread and I ate some of that. In general I added back a few of the old faithfuls but didn’t go crazy. I then slowly eliminated anything that wasn’t Keto.
Never have been a person who counted calories or now macros. So I am just increasing my fats, then less protein and finally very little carbs.
My starting weight is 220 lbs.
Aside note: I came back and am adding this after almost 6 months on Keto. Using just what they call Lazy Keto as I described above I have lost 52 lbs. and have loads of energy. My progress has been phenomenal. You can read about my physical benefits here: 7 Physical Benefits of Keto
Keeping track of my progress
5/17/18 Loss: 7 lbs.
I setup a spreadsheet in Office Excel using a templates they had and adjusted it for both the scale and measuring inches. It seems to be really important you keep a record of your inches loss and not just your scale loss because sometimes you may not lose on one but you will on the other. If you don’t have a tape measure be sure and go out and get a cloth (sometimes plastic) measuring tape. 5/18/18 Loss: 7 lbs.
Backing off of the strict keto has helped A LOT! My energy is back and I have lost about 7 lbs. but I am already tired of bacon and eggs. I believe that I have started what is known as Lazy Keto.
Many, many years ago (maybe 30) I stopped eating meat, pork and chicken. I was working at a health food advertising agency and had a lot of down time during the day so I would read the health food publications that came in. One was Vegetarian Times and the stories they had in that magazine turned me off to meat.
Eating Vegetarian lasted about 10 years until I met my husband and he talked me into eating chicken saying that if I would start eating chicken he would stop eating beef and pork. So, I started eating chicken and he stopped eating his meat…for only 2 weeks! But his subterfuge worked and I was hooked and continued eating just chicken and fish for the next 25 years…Until KETO.
Now a typical day is:
Breakfast – Bacon & Fried eggs in lots of Kerry Gold Butter
Snack – Walnut or Almond Pieces
Dinner –
- Chicken Broiled with BBQ sauce or
- A Salad with ground beef cooked with Lawry’s season salt and a dressing of Mayonnaise mixed with ketchup or
- Chicken cut into pieces with fried onion and eggs
Maybe not so much strict Keto but I’m a firm believer that if I can’t eat at least some of what I really like (of course this doesn’t include SUGAR it’s a definite no no) I won’t stay on the Keto Lifestyle and I’m still losing weight and my energy level is up so “onward and upward”.
