Lazy Keto 6 Months 55 Lbs. Lost – How I did it!

Lazy Keto Since I’m not one much for keeping close track of things, counting calories or macros (when I learned of Keto) isn’t my thing.  So when I started doing Keto I opted for the Lazy Keto way.

The first thing my husband and I did was go through the kitchen and removed all the items that weren’t Keto.  That was a tough one since it was full of sugar, cookies, flour, ice cream, potatoes, potato chips, in other words all the things we couldn’t have but we loved.  I gave away some of the stuff, threw away some and some is still in my cupboard.  It’s been 6 months and I mostly haven’t touched the stuff.

Then we embarked on a lot of bacon and eggs for breakfast.  Lunch and dinner would be some kind of meat mixed with onions and eggs.

I got the Keto flu

Keto FluFeeling like I could hardly drag myself around (like my muscles were really weak) I decided that being so strict on my diet was too hard on my body so I backed off a little and made one of the meals like I used to eat but making sure the carbs were low.  That helped a lot and once I got over the keto flu I slowly went back to eating more Keto.

Getting tired of Bacon and eggs, we started drinking Bulletproof coffee in the mornings with Kerry Gold Butter and MCT oil and blended it in a blender to make it creamy.  We did this for a few months and then got tired of it.

Intermittent fasting came in about this time because my appetite was pretty much gone. Read my blog about it here:  Intermittent Fasting

Having tried a number of Keto recipes I just couldn’t get satisfied with the taste of the pancakes or bread.  My husband found a pancake recipe he liked and has them often in the evening.  Although there was one bread recipe that I liked but being a busy blogger I only made it once.

Update:  I started making Cloud Bread…Which I love.  I tried it once before and didn’t care for it but thought I would try it again.  When I make it I made a mistake and used 4 ounces of cream cheese instead of the 3 ounces they suggest and loved the better texture of the bread.

For those of you who don’t know what Cloud Bread is:  It 3 eggs, 4 ounces of cream cheese and 1/8 teaspoon of cream of Tatar.  That’s it.  You just separate the eggs putting the yokes with the cream cheese and mix them together.  Put the Cream of Tatar in with the whites and mix it as if you were making mariangue (If you turn the bowl over it won’t fall out).  Then mix the two together (gently).  Put partchment paper on a cookie sheet put the mix in six piles on the paper.  Cook in the over for 40 minutes at 300 degrees.  There are all kinds of recipes on YouTube and the web.

They are great with butter and sugar free or simply fruit jam.  Also, you can add a little salt in them and put just a pinch of garlic powder to get a savory taste.

Each one is 143 calories – 11 grams Fat – 0 Carbs

Rich Creamy Flavorful White Sauce

I was happy to find out that my favorite sauce “Rich Creamy Flavorful White Sauce” that I had been making for years was Keto.  The recipe is on my blog here:  Rich Creamy Flavorful White Sauce.  I usually add chicken, shrimp or fish to the sauce and it becomes a rich and filling dish.

Ok, so what could I eat, basically stay on Keto and still be satisfied so I didn’t go off diet.  I cheated (a little).  Loving chicken thighs and legs I started using “Cookies Sweet Hickory BBQ sauce”.  Broiling them in the oven with the BBQ sauce and after letting it rest for about 5 minutes, I would cut it up and eat them slowly.  As a side dish I would have unsweetened applesauce with cinnamon mixed in.  I use the applesauce with a lot of my meals.

Started Dancing

Dancing LadyAfter a few days of a diet plateau, I started crazy dancing to 80’s dance music since 3 songs is about 15 minutes.  I still do the dancing to this day.  Before that I had a Bowflex but it was sooooo boring that I hardly ever did it.

With this plateau I also had stopped drinking the Bulletproof coffee so I substituted nuts.  After intermittent fasting for 18 hours I would dance in the morning and then would eat my nuts about an hour later.  Mixing walnuts, almonds and macadamia nuts of about ¼ cup.  These nuts have a lot of fat in them.

You can look at my 1 month blog – 1 month on keto what to eat and my 4 month blog – 4 month keto-intermittent fasting-apple cider vinegar journey to see what I actually ate.

Apple Cider Vinegar

During this whole time I was taking Apple Cider Vinegar.  Usually I would put a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinegar in a glass with about a cup of water and drink in down really fast.  The taste isn’t great but it is doable.  This would be taken about a ½ hour before my nut breakfast and my dinner.

All this time I was still losing weight steadily, my energy was up and I was having fantastic physical benefits.  You can read about the physical benefits here:  7 physical benefits of keto.

When I hit another plateau I changed it up by eating my meal around lunch time and eating the nuts later.  This got my weight loss going again.  So you can see sometimes little changes can make the difference.

Started eating steaks

My husband and I got a great deal on steaks and I started eating them every other day.  When those were gone we would go to the meat locker and get steaks, roast and pork (cooking the roast and pork in a slow cooker).

Black seed oil

Black Seed Cumin OilThe other things I did was I jiggled every night.  See my blog:  Get that lymphatic system going.  Also, I started taking “Black Seed Cumin Oil” capsules.  The Black Seed oil I was taking for regular bowels and to help me sleep.

Black Seed Oil contains Omega-3, Omega-6, Omega 9, Palmitic acid, Stearic acid, Eiosadienic acid and Thymouinone (a compound with antioxidant qualities.  It is known as “the seed of blessing”, research suggests this powerful antioxidant oil offers nutritive support that may benefit a healthy immune system.  Health practitioners around the world use black seed oil’s unique essential fatty acids to help balance the body.

What about vegetables?

Lastly, vegetables.  I kept thinking that I really needed to eat vegetables to get the vitamins and minerals I needed.  But every time I would add them to my diet I would stop losing or gain weight.  So I stopped eating them and instead took “Beyond Tangy Tangerine” from www.youngevity.com a couple of times a week.  I don’t make any money off of them but since it helped me keep my energy up I thought I should tell you about it.

Eating this way may not be 100% Keto but it has worked for me.  You really should read my other posts on Keto since I couldn’t cover everything here.  The important thing is that I’m losing weight, my energy is up and I have that wonderful clear and sharp mind.
